Neuchâtel & surroundings

Discover an overview of your stay in our beautiful canton!

A thousand-year-old city with its own charm, Neuchâtel will seduce you with its elegant ochre-yellow buildings and its privileged location on the shores of the largest all-Swiss lake.

Millennial city in yellow stone
Neuchâtel is above all a castle and a collegiate church proudly enthroned on a hill. It is also a network of narrow streets lined with elegant buildings made of Hauterive stone, the distinctive yellow limestone that illuminates and brightens the entire city. A real invitation to stroll, all the more pleasant as the city has the largest pedestrian zone in Switzerland!

By the water’s edge
You will not visit Neuchâtel without taking advantage of its privileged location by the lake. While strolling along the Ostervald Quay bordering the crystal clear waters of the lake or on board the steamboat “Neuchâtel”, you will see the Alps that are emerging in the distance. At Jeunes-Rives, swimming and water sports will enchant you, while the port is full of lively cafés and restaurants during the summer months.

An attractive cultural offer
From archaeology to Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Jaquet-Droz automatons, ethnography and original nature exhibitions, the city’s five museums will delight you with their diversity. Festi’neuch (open-air music festival), NIFFF (Fantastic Film Festival), Buskers Festival (street musicians festival) – and the traditional Harvest Festival animate the city centre in turn during the summer months.

Neuchâtel during the Belle Epoque
In groups, individually or as a family, the “Neuchâtel à la Belle Epoque” tours immerse you in the resolutely optimistic universe of the early 20th century. Playful, interactive and didactic at the same time, these visits will make you live new experiences!
